This three week accelerated course introduces students to the structure and function of the American government system along with the nature of American politics. Students travel to Washington, D.C. as members of the Close Up flagship program for a one-of-a-kind opportunity experiencing their government in action.

$2,500 (airfare and hotel included). Financial Aid available.

$500 non-refundable deposit: Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Must be paid via check payable to Jesuit.

Marine Biology - British Virgin Islands and Hawaii

This course offers students the opportunity to learn about marine ecosystems that concludes with a diving adventure in Hawaii or Virgin Gorda, BVI. Students will experience coral reef building, manta ray diving, turtle tagging, night diving and snorkeling, and more while gaining an in-depth understanding and appreciation for their role in the environment.

2017-2018 Information:

Due to Hurricane Irma, the Marine Biology program will only travel to Big Island, Hawaii. Trips to both locations will resume in Summer 2019.

Marine Biology - British Virgin Islands

Similar to Marine Biology - BVI, this course is a project based opportunity for students to gain an in-depth understanding and appreciation for their role in the environment. Students will explore the Pacific Ocean ecosystems, sustainability, and convervation. Students receive a ½ credit of senior science elective upon completion

Astronomy - Texas State Parks

Dallas Jesuit and various Texas State Parks

Description

The course will be 2 weeks in the classroom at Jesuit and 4 – 5 days camping in a national or state park to do nighttime labs. The course will cover: Celestial Mechanics in our solar system (how and why planetary bodies move the way they do/ Keplers Laws, etc.). Optics (How telescopes work). Waves (How data is gathered through the use of radiation and wave propagation). A survey of stars and galaxies: a look at the life and death cycles of stars/ black holes/ neutron stars/ pulsars, etc. Basic ideas of cosmology and the life of the universe.
