April 25, 1932 - September 26, 2019
John, beloved husband and father of nine children, passed away at the age of 87 in Flower Mound, Texas. He was a born and bred Dallas man who held great pride in his Texas roots. John was a member of the Jesuit High School Class of 1949 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin in 1958 after serving our country in the Navy as a corpsman. He spent the first four years of his professional career as a claims adjuster until he entered sales in 1962. John spent the next decade working as a chemical salesman for McKesson & Robbins Chemical and Van Waters & Rogers, Inc. In 1972, John started his first company, Atlantes Chemical, after discovering his real passion was "starting and growing successful chemical companies from a shoestring budget into multimillion-dollar companies." He ran his first company as its sole employee for six months. John later expanded on his passion for entrepreneurship by starting Base Chemicals and ARC Products, Inc. Although John enjoyed a successful career, his greatest achievement was and always will be the family and friends that he walked with through life. He never met a stranger and could recite the middle names of every member of his kindergarten class. Each person he encountered became his greatest treasure, set right among the ranks of his classic cars. His perfect day always began with a strong cup of coffee and ended surrounded by family and friends listening to him share one of his unforgettable, personal stories. You could always rely on John to be the king of the dance floor when any Glen Miller song or 50's tune played. Nothing could make him smile quite like a Dallas Cowboys' or Texas Longhorns' football victory and, of course, celebrating with a cold beer or two. He valued fishing and camping trips with his children, gardening in his yard, and his family joined in prayer before enjoying his famous hamburgers more than anything. John's Catholic faith was a major pillar in his life, and he was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Hugh Malone, Sr. and Mary Alice Craddock Malone, brother Robert Michael Malone, and granddaughter Jennifer Blair Malone. John is survived by his wife, Maureen Malone; sons, John Brian Malone and wife Jennifer, Richard Bruce Malone, Wayne Malone and wife Ellen, Michael Malone, Jim Malone and wife Meagan; daughters, Phyllis Virattanajun, Michelle Lambert and husband Joseph, Pam Cantrell and husband Gary, and Lindsey Malone; grandchildren, Joy Virattanajun, Jillian Malone, Emma Malone, Paige Lambert, Jamie Malone, John Brett Malone, Benjamin Lambert, and Jonathan Anderson; brother Chris Malone; sisters, Carmelite Sister Marcia Malone, Colleen Grider, Kathy Weis, Lois Davis, and Melissa Crowell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, beloved extended family members, and friends who will continue to share his infamous stories until they meet John again. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at 3517 Sentinel Oak Road, Flower Mound, TX 75022.
