BILLIE JOYCE COOKE BAILEY Billie Joyce Cooke Bailey passed away with her children and daughter-in-laws by her bed, on Monday, June 22, 2020, at 12:53 am, at the age of 83. Billie Joyce was born on November 25, 1936, in Dallas, Texas, to Hollis Rodney (H.R.) and Claribel Louise (Sally) Cooke. She graduated from Sunset High School in 1954 where she had been a Bisonette on the Drill Team and a member of the Ice Skating Club. Billie Joyce was the recipient of Linz Bible Award and the Advanced Bible Award. Billie Joyce went to Arlington State College (now UTA) for a short time and then decided she wanted to be a secretary. She went to work for Central Research Laboratories at Texas Instruments where she met the love of her life, Dr. Louis Glen Bailey. They married on July 4th, 1959. They raised one daughter, Debbie Ann, and two sons, Michael Glen and Donald Wayne. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Billie Joyce was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She also was a descendent of one of Texas' "Old Three Hundred" (James Hope). Billie Joyce always put the interest of others first. Her love of her family was tangible in all that she did. Billie Joyce wanted to be behind the camera capturing precious memories, instead of in front of the camera. Most of all, the love displayed between Billie Joyce and her husband, Lou, is surpassed by none. They enjoyed sailing, travelling, fossil and rock hunting and in later years, genealogy. Billie Joyce was preceded in death by her parents: Hollis and Sally Cooke, her brother: Robert (Bobby) Cooke. Billie Joyce is survived by her husband: Louis Glen Bailey, their children: Debbie Ann Bailey Brogan and her husband, Terry; Michael Glen Bailey and his wife, Julie; and Donald Wayne Bailey and his wife, Marcela; her grandchildren: Sara Brown, Rebecca Winnett, Tami Muckleroy, Hunter Bailey, Evan Bailey, Diego Bailey, Ashleigh Petty, Conrad Servin, and Katherine Acacia Servin. She was also blessed with her great-grandchildren: Anna Brown, Isabella, Samuel and Taylor Schoen, Bailey Ann, Julia Joyce, Lauren, Lillie, and Lindsey Muckleroy, Emily Kirk, and Benjamin Petty; and great-great grandchild, Caedyn Muckleroy. Billie Joyce Cooke Bailey will be missed by all, but always present in our hearts and thoughts. Services were held Thursday, June 25. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation.
