Virgil Sanchez is the father of George Sanchez '79.

Virgilio Sanchez

Virgilio Sanchez, 87, of Dallas, passed away on May 3rd, 2018. Virgilio was born in McAllen to Juan and Felipita Sanchez on April 9th, 1931. He went to McAllen High school. He married Esther Romero in Dallas, 1956. He attended Pan AM university in Edinburg, Texas, where he studied electrical engineering. He worked at E-Systems, Swearingen, Murray Company, and Ratheon, leaving in 1979. He then opened Goldrush Café in May of 1980 with the vision of good food at reasonable prices with a family atmosphere where everybody knows your name. He was a veteran of the Korean war where he served honorably in the United States Marines corp.

Virgilio was a devout catholic whose generosity and good nature brought smiles and admiration from family and friends. He will be sorely missed and remembered through all his best qualities. Faith, family, and friends were what was most important to him.

Virgilio is preceded in death by his wife Esther of Dallas and his mother, father, and sister, Helen of McAllen, Texas.

Virgilio is survived by Virgil Jr, John and Liz Sanchez, George and Brenda Sanchez, Mark Sanchez, and daughter Liz and Kevin Birdwell, all of Dallas.

Rosary will be 7:30 Tuesday May 8th 2018 at Calvary Hill funeral home.

Funeral services will be held 12:00pm Wednesday May 9th at Calvary Hill funeral home. Catholic mass and burial will follow at Calvary Hill cemetery.
