Thomas Baird Cannon was born February 10, 1943 in Dallas, Texas to Timothy and Nadine Cannon. He passed away on December 22, 2022 in Plano, Texas at the age of 79. Tom was a graduate of Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and the University of Texas at Arlington.
He enjoyed a long career as an electrical engineer working for TI, UTL, Boeing and MicroTune. Though he traveled extensively for work, home was always his favorite place.
He and his wife, Barbara, raised their three daughters in Richardson, Texas before moving to Plano in 1998. Some of Tom's hobbies included ham radio operations, auto mechanics, puzzles of all kinds and driving his red Corvette. It was his grandchildren, however, that brought him the greatest joy. He was blessed with one grandson, seven granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. He used to joke that they must have quit making boys, but he wouldn't have traded any of the girls! He and Barbara traveled around the world and took the whole family on fantastic vacations to Hawaii, Orlando, Paris, London and Cancun.
He was present at almost all of the grandkids' school events, sporting events and dance recitals over the years. Tom suffered a debilitating stroke in March 2013. In the almost 10 years since, he maintained his sense of humor and enjoyment of life. Barbara remained by his side during this time and made sure he was still an active participant in the lives of his growing family.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Tim and Nadine Cannon and his daughter, Cynthia. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his daughters, Carla Jones (Danny) and Susan Cannon, 8 grandchildren, Ryan Jones (Trysten), Becky Pentecost (Seeley), Rachel Navas (Jude), Robin Jones, Rylie Jones, Zoe Lugo, Claire Lugo and Mia Lugo, and 3 great-grandchildren, Charlotte Pentecost, Graham Pentecost and Makenna Jones. He is also survived by 9 brothers and sisters, Sherry Finn, Tim Cannon, Mary Frazier, Jane Smith, Ann Meiners, Jimmy Cannon, Joe Cannon, Christine Haak and Mike Cannon, as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom never liked to say "good bye", so in his words, "Hasta La Vista, baby!"
