It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Bradley (Brad) Paul Williams of Dallas, Texas. Brad died suddenly in a tragic car accident on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Brad was born in San Antonio to Paul and Jody Williams on August 4, 1966. After attending elementary and high school in San Antonio, Brad continued his education at nearby Trinity University.
Brad was an outstanding soccer player and continued his soccer skills at Trinity on the varsity soccer team. It was at Trinity that Brad met his wife Noelle. They married in 1992 and built a wonderful family with sons Ethan and Carter. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Trinity in engineering science, Brad worked for several years as a consulting engineer for Engineering Dynamics, Inc. in San Antonio before attending the University of Virginia, where he received his Master of Science degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering. He then attended the University of Virginia School of Law, graduating with his Doctor of Jurisprudence.
Upon graduation from Law School, Brad joined the law firm Baker Botts, LLP in Dallas, Texas. He worked as an intellectual property (IP) attorney there from 1994 to 2020, serving from 2010-2013 as Chair of the Dallas Office IP section. In 2020, Brad joined Ericsson, Inc. as an intellectual property attorney where he worked until the present. Brad was a member of the Dallas Bar Association, where he served as president of the IP Section in 2016. He played an active role in the IP Section for many years, also serving as treasurer and secretary.
Brad will be deeply missed by his family and friends who loved him and appreciated his devotion to family, his intelligence and wisdom, his enthusiasm to solve a problem, and his willingness to provide help when needed. Brad was not outwardly demonstrative in words, but his actions spoke volumes. From taking time on his way to work to bring a forgotten cell phone to his wife, to laughing when she accidentally let her car roll down the driveway into a tree, reassuring her it would be ok, Brad's love for his wife was patient and kind and always understanding. He also took great joy and pride in his two sons. Whether it was coaching their youth sports team, taking them to countless baseball and soccer tournaments, helping them with car troubles, creating spreadsheets of their prospective colleges, or even just teaching them how to tie a tie, he expressed love for his sons through his deep investment in their well-being. In his spare time, one of his favorite pastimes was watching soccer, and he especially liked seeing the World Cup this year. Brad also enjoyed watching college football, especially Ethan's alma mater Notre Dame, following Carter's cross country and track career in college, and spending time with family and friends, especially family vacations. He particularly enjoyed a recent trip to Oahu and the many adventures he was able to experience with his family, even the time when he and Noelle tipped their kayak over into the ocean. Brad was a huge lover of animals and was devoted to his three cats, Harry, Luna, and Lily. He especially liked sending funny photos of them to friends and family.
Brad is survived by his wife Noelle Williams and his two sons Ethan and Carter Williams of Dallas. Brad is also survived by his mother Johanna (Jody) Williams, his sister Pamela Galindo and brother-in-law Raul Galindo, nieces Hayley Wilhelm (Zachary), Hannah Galindo (Jacob), and great-nephew Paul Wilhelm, all of San Antonio. In addition, Brad is survived by sister- and brother-in-law Simone and Tony Amadee of Olympia Washington. He is predeceased by his father, Paul Williams and his mother- and father-in-law Bette and Jack Denning.
