Benjamin Adamcik, 78, beloved husband of JoAnn (Brooks) Adamcik passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at his home in Addison, TX. He was surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren during his last days, which was his final wish.
Ben was born on March 6, 1945, to the late Adolph and Henrietta (Muras) Adamcik in LaGrange, TX. He was the youngest of 14 children. Ben was a passionate servant leader, committing his life to over 60 years of service to our country and community. Ben enlisted in the United States Army in 1963 and retired honorably in 2004 at the rank of Colonel (O-6), culminating a 41-year career in Military Logistics and Hospital Command. Colonel Adamcik was a highly decorated Military Officer and distinguished recipient of numerous awards, to include the Legion of Merit and Meritorious Service Medals.
Concurrent to his Military service, Ben dedicated his civic career to Law Enforcement. Retiring as the elected Dallas County Constable of Precinct 3 in December 2022 after 16 years, Ben concluded six decades of service to his community. He began his public career with the Mesquite Police Department in 1964, and in 1967, he transferred to the Dallas Police Department where he served for eleven years, retiring in 1978. In the private sector, Ben held executive positions with Tom Thumb as Vice President of Security and Loss Prevention and Brinker International as Director of Security.
Ben graduated in 1985 from Command and General Staff College with a MS in Military Science, Military and Strategic Leadership degree after receiving his BS in Criminology and Corrections, Criminal Justice and Corrections from Sam Houston State University in 1973.
Ben had a deep love for his family. He adored his wife of thirty-one years and best friend, JoAnn and shared his pride in his children with anyone who would listen. He loved to spend time with his family whenever possible and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He regularly attended their soccer, football, baseball, basketball and volleyball games, as well as cheerleading, dance competitions and drill team performances. He earned the very special title of "Dad Dasher" because he was always delivering food, desserts, medicine or whatever anyone needed to members of his family. He was a man whose family and friends could always depend on for help.
In addition to his wife, JoAnn, Ben is survived by his seven children, Brian Adamcik and wife Kallie of Keller, TX; Jeff Adamcik and wife Maureen of Addison, TX; Christy Gammill and husband Bill of Dallas, TX; Jason Adamcik of Allen, TX; Eric Hoopes and wife Tara of Port Republic, MD; Stephanie Fine and husband Dan of Dallas, TX; Ryan Hoopes and wife Emily of Dallas, TX; a brother Frank Adamcik, wife Dot (deceased) of DeSoto, TX; and a sister Lucy Janda and husband Tony of Houston, TX; twenty-two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews from his thirteen brothers and sisters.
