Wynne Murphey Johnson '66 |
June 7, 1948 - April 20, 2023 Long-time resident of Yuma, AZ, Wynne Murphey Johnson died of heart failure April 20, 2023. Wynne was born in Dallas, Texas. He was the fifth in a family of eleven children. He attended Catholic schools from grade school through high school. He attended University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England and the University of California at Berkeley, and graduated from the University of Dallas in 1970, with a degree in mathematics. He served in the US Army from 1971 to 1973. He completed a master's degree in mathematics in 1985. He worked all of his life as a software engineer and a mathematics teacher. He also taught English in Mexico for six years.
Wynne was predeceased by his parents, Claiborne and Julia Johnson, and by his brothers Claiborne Johnson, Jr, and Michael G Johnson.
Wynne will be remembered as not only a brilliant mathematician, but also as a very kind and generous person. He was ready to assist anyone who needed or requested help. May he rest in peace. |
