Born May 19, 1935, died July 1, 2023. Known by most as Bob Stras, Bob was born in DuBois, Pennsylvania and moved with his family to Philadelphia, where he graduated from Southeast Catholic High School. He earned a degree from LaSalle University and enlisted in the National Guard, serving postings at Fort Jackson and Fort Bliss and being called to active duty from Fort Polk during the Berlin Wall crisis. During this period, Bob had moved south to Dallas and met Jean, beginning 61 years of loving marriage on October 11, 1961. They raised six children and were longtime parishioners of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch.
Bob enjoyed a successful career for decades as a salesman in the furniture manufacturing industry, during which he was very active in Knights of Columbus Council 5052 as a Fourth Degree member. Bob served as Grand Knight and later as District Deputy, with a special affinity for the degree corps activities of the Knights.
He worked for many years to organize the annual Knights high school basketball tournament which recently hosted its 59th edition and is now named the Bob Stras Knights of Columbus Dallas Classic. Bob's passion for the Knights reflected his love of family, his Catholic faith and community, and his country, and he participated in and contributed to numerous charitable endeavors of the Knights and others.

He is survived by his wife Jean (Bryant), and by four children: Gina (Steve), Robert, Rita (Chuck), and Mike (Mimi). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
