JULIA "JUDY" PRUDE
Services for Judy will be held on Friday, May 17, at 12:00 noon in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Cemetary with a light reception to follow. Restland is located at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. Julia "Judy" Prude was delivered to the Lord on May 10, 2019. Born, 1932 in Five Points, Texas to Claude Major and Nettie Bell Dagnell, Judy developed her inexhaustible work ethic on the family farm working in the cotton fields with her sister Wanda.
Judy graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1945 where she was a majorette in the band and the school beauty queen. After attending North Texas State College, she returned to Waxahachie to begin her long career as a book keeper and landlord.
In 1962 Judy met the love of her life, John Prude they were married and moved to Dallas. The couple lived on the stylish Gaston Avenue and frequented the many places Dallas had to offer for a drink. Upon starting a family, they purchased a small apartment building on Fitzhugh and soon after, they purchased a second building.
In the early seventies, Judy's family was growing again and they purchased a third apartment building in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas. For decades, Judy kept the books for oil & gas companies, managed multiple rental properties, cared for her mother, and raised two children.
Judy was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Ann, her parents, her sister Wanda and brother-in-law John Moore of Athens, and her husband John. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn and husband Jack Butler, and two grandchildren Katie and Lance of Austin. She is also survived by her son Douglas Prude and his partner Deniz Usbug of Dallas as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, former tenants, and friends.
