Latest COVID-19 Information

During the 2022-23 school year, the following protocols will be observed as it relates to our response to COVID-19. Please be advised that our policies and requirements are subject to change at any time based on guidance from the Jesuit Dallas COVID-19 Task Force.

Student Illness
Any student illness should be promptly communicated by submitting the Absence Notification Form or emailing the School Nurse (schoolnurse@jesuitcp.org). The School Nurse will communicate with parents regarding the reported illness to determine the necessary next steps. A copy of a negative rapid antigen or PCR test may be requested. Students who have a positive COVID-19 test (regardless of vaccination status) will be required to isolate for five (5) days from the onset of symptoms.

Symptoms

Temperature of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
Sore throat (not caused by seasonal allergies)
Cough (for students with chronic cough due to allergies or asthma, a change in their cough from baseline)
Difficulty breathing (for students with asthma, a change from their baseline breathing)
Diarrhea or vomiting
New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
Loss of taste or smell
Congestion or runny nose

Protocols & Policies

Masks

We are grateful to our students, staff, and guests for helping to maintain a safe environment while indoors on campus. Jesuit Dallas is moving to a mask-optional policy beginning on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022. We will continue to carefully monitor the climate of infection in conjunction with our medical advisors and will communicate additional changes to our health and safety protocols as they arise.

Student Vaccinations & Exposure

COVID-19 vaccinations are not required for students, though they are highly recommended for all students without an underlying medical condition that necessitates exemption from vaccination.

Students, regardless of vaccination status, are no longer required to quarantine based on exposure and will only need to isolate based on symptoms or a positive test confirming COVID-19. Individuals should always assume exposure and monitor their health for symptoms.

Furthermore, non-vaccinated students will not be eligible to participate in activities with outside agencies that require COVID-19 vaccinations (e.g., service sites with their own policies/requirements) or any international Jesuit-related trips requiring air travel. If other events require vaccination, families will be alerted with ample time for planning or to consider alternate options. For domestic travel, families are accountable for any resources (e.g., hotel and transportation) required if students develop symptoms and/or are not permitted to return with the group as a result of COVID-19 related issues.

If your son has been vaccinated, please make sure to upload a copy of his vaccine card through Magnus Health or by emailing schoolnurse@jesuitcp.org.

Best Practices

Please remember that the following preventative actions should be taken every day to reduce the spread of any respiratory virus:

Stay home if you are sick.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (sing “Happy Birthday” twice). If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Remember that handwashing is the strongest way to prevent the spread of disease.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands; germs spread this way.
Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze (use your upper sleeve if a tissue is not available).
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
