The Interpreters and Translators for Others is a partnership between Jesuit's Diversity & Outreach and the Jesuit Women's Auxiliary (JWA). It provides both verbal and written translation as well as guidance for unfamiliar aspects of high school and Jesuit culture. The service began during the 2015-16 school year and is continuing to grow.
It serves active Jesuit families for whom English is not a first language and those at Jesuit who are invested in the student achieving the goals of the Profile of the Graduate at Graduation.
Members of the Jesuit Women's Auxiliary who are interested in supporting families of which English is a second language and have completed an orientation meeting. These volunteers have students currently enrolled at Jesuit and/or have a son that has graduated from Jesuit.
The Language service provides a variety of services such as translating documents, contacting families, assisting in parent-teacher, parent-counselor conference, parent informative workshops in Spanish and building connections among the Jesuit community. The service continues to expand and assist wherever a need arises.
