Over the years, Jesuit has produced many Eagle Scouts, which is not surprising when one considers the connection between the Scout’s goal of building character and leadership and the Jesuit motto of Men for Others. Junior Jack DeGroote, who recently orchestrated the collection for the proper retirement of over 150 U.S. flags, is Jesuit’s latest Eagle Scout. He also happens to be one of the top students academically in the Class of 2022 and a tremendous class leader.

Jack participates in the on-campus leadership organization, PALS, and has been part of the MAGIS mentoring program for middle school students for the last three years. A member of the varsity crew team, Jack is also an associate editor of The Roundup and is co-founder of the Jesuit Finance and Investment Club.

“Jack is an accomplished student but is also a very caring individual who represents what it means to be a Man for Others,” described a faculty nomination. Another nomination declared, “Jack was selected to be a sophomore retreat leader last spring and was incredible. He really hits all the marks when thinking about what it should mean to be Ranger of the Week.”
