For the second time in as many weeks, the Jesuit Dallas Ranger of the Week was featured in the local news. Senior Major Kent, who serves as an Executive Big Brother for the Class of 2024, was highlighted on NBC’s evening news for his leadership in the Reading Partners North Texas virtual volunteer program. Kent and several of his classmates have offered to provide literacy instruction to grade-school students whose schools are closed or have otherwise been significantly impacted by the pandemic.

Kent, who also recently earned all-district honors as a starting outside linebacker for the varsity football team, excels in the classroom and his efforts providing one-on-one instruction to more than 20 second and third grade students has been deeply impactful. Said a nominating teacher, “Major is selfless and the students he works with have made significant gains in the virtual reading program. He continues to develop into a great leader.”
