There is great enthusiasm and energy in junior John Paul "JP" Ortega, who as a member of the entrepreneurship club and leader of the aviation club, is known for his ambitious spirit. Said one member of the Jesuit administration, “JP is always going beyond expectations. He is always looking for ways to help and readily offers his time whenever there is a need. He is a great role model for younger students and truly a Man for Others.”

Like many Jesuit students, Ortega’s list of activities seemingly has no end. A member of the district-championship winning cross country team, he also serves on staff for The Roundup and is a member of the Ignatian Service Corps, where he has led numerous community service projects. Additionally, he provides daily prayer offerings and steps up in various ministries to make worship more readily available for all others in our community.

A faculty member shared, “Last year, JP led the effort to reinstitute the literacy program at McShan Elementary School by introducing an online format during the pandemic that enabled continued development for elementary school students from refugee families in DISD. This Thanksgiving, JP will travel to Monterrey, Mexico to offer relief to the families, women and children at our immigration center partner Casa San Nicolas.”

A consistent and reliable leader, congratulations to Ranger of the Week, JP Ortega.
