Inspired by the service & justice program and its prominence as a cornerstone in the educational ethos at Jesuit, junior Fabian Mares is now an inspiration to his fellow classmates, as he has embraced the full Jesuit experience while using his gifts to make a positive difference among his peers and in serving others.
“Fabian demonstrates care and concern for those who are most vulnerable and marginalized,” a program director described. “His work in Guatemala was such a natural complement to his character. He interacts with ease as he creates friendships within the agencies and communities we sponsor. During our visit to the orphanage, he was front and center in creating a space where all felt welcome.”
Consistently lauded as a “model for all Jesuit students,” Fabian was recognized earlier this year as a National Hispanic Scholar by the College Board for academic excellence. In addition to his scholarly pursuits and dedication to service, Fabian is a leader in the student ministry organization, Fathful Fellas, a campus ambassador, and a member of the engineering society, Chinese club, Rangers for Life, PALS, Jesuit Multicultural Society, the yearbook staff, and the Jesuit Dallas Swimming and Diving team. Fabian’s commitment to the student experience is magnified when considering that since first enrolling as a freshman, he has made the daily commute to Jesuit from far west Ft. Worth.
“Fabian is a wonderful young man who has thrown himself into everything Jesuit offers,” a teacher exclaimed. “He is energetic, genuine, and conscientious.” Another faculty member added, “Fabian is a hard-working and kind-hearted young man. He always makes me smile or laugh, and he elevates the entire classroom just through his presence.”
Congratulations to one of Jesuit’s most distant travelers, Fabian Mares ’25, Jesuit Dallas Ranger of the Week!
