Sophomore Grant O’Dea was recently nominated and unanimously selected to serve on Jesuit’s award-winning chapter of Hope Squad after being described by classmates as “thoughtful,” “kind,” and “caring and genuinely concerned for his Jesuit brothers.” A talented student who has challenged himself with a rigorous academic course load, Grant continues to positively impact the community in many ways.
“Grant is the type of student who challenges his classmates to do better and be better,” a faculty member detailed. “He is well respected by his classmates and by his teachers due to his quiet confidence in the classroom, and his openness to the full Jesuit experience.”
A dedicated member of the student faith organization, Godly Guys, as well as a valued part of the Jesuit Dallas Hockey program, Grant has demonstrated ability as a natural leader. He works with the admissions department as an ambassador, providing tours for prospective families, leading eighth-grade visits, and has accepted a leadership role for this year’s Open House. Grant served on the Freshman Advisory Board last year, and has completed service projects with St. Jude Center, St. Nick’s, and iCan Shine’s iCan Swim program.
“Grant works hard and is incredibly bright,” another nomination described. “Despite an abundance of confidence in all that he does, he remains humble and projects an attentive connection with others. He has been exceptionally open to the mission of Jesuit, and will no doubt accomplish many more admirable things in the years to come.”
Congratulations to Grant O’Dea ’27, Ranger of the Week!
