A true renaissance man, senior Leo Ramirez ’25 is driven by the pursuit of excellence in all that he does, which includes a commitment to serve as a leader on campus and in the community. Most recently, Leo teamed with a classmate to win the New Tech at Coppell debate championship, while he also earned Texas Private School Music Educators Association (TPSMEA) All-Region honors in choir.
“Leo is one of the most caring, compassionate, reflective, and sensitive debaters we have had on the Jesuit debate team in more than 30 years,” a coach in the program revealed. “His commitment to experiencing all that Jesuit has to offer is extraordinary. Leo and his debate partner, Luke Lastelick ’25, are ranked among the top 50 pairs in the country, although his competitive spirit can be surprising, as he is such a mild-mannered and thoughtful young man.”
Leo is outstanding academically, and earlier this year, was celebrated on campus as an Advancement Placement Scholar with Distinction and a National Merit Semifinalist. He is the current recipient of The Jameson C.C. Sanders Memorial Scholarship for outstanding academic performance and contributions to the community and was also named a Patrick E. Haggerty Math/Science Scholar for demonstrated excellence in the areas of math and science while exhibiting leadership and service. Leo is a member of the Jesuit Music Outreach Program and is set to help lead the Waco Sustainable Farm Program next month.
“Insightful and studios, humble and kind, Leo has great gifts of self-reflection,” a faculty member observed. “I am impressed by his academic performance and extracurricular involvement. He sets a tremendous example for his fellow students.”
Congratulations to Ranger of the Week, Leo Ramirez ’25.
