Hardworking, determined, and gifted, senior Michael Hasenfratz has developed into one of the most trusted and revered leaders in the Jesuit student body. A member of the Big Brothers Executive Committee and Freshman Retreat Core Team, Michael has been selected to serve as the featured speaker to open this year’s freshman retreat and will lead the closing prayer service for the Class of 2028. He will also serve as a small group leader for the retreat, a role he is currently replicating during Senior Community Days.
“Michael is one of the most impressive young men I have ever encountered,” offered a long-time member of the faculty. “He is engaged, diligent, and intellectually curious. Through kindness and thoughtfulness, he leads by example and is an excellent role model for his peers.”
A 2024 AP Scholar with Distinction and current recipient of the Shannon Family “Man for Others” Scholarship, Michael has a diverse array of interests accompanied by an unrelenting pursuit of excellence. He was elected captain of Jesuit Dallas Swimming & Diving, helping the Rangers to their 10th district title last year, and created the program’s social media channel. He has also played violin in the Ursuline-Jesuit Orchestra for the past four years, which has received the highest rating of “Superior Performance” at the spring contest each year. The faculty directors of the music program have lauded Michael’s teamwork and leadership, while coaches and faculty members have praised his kindness, academic abilities, and involvement in Hope Squad. This past summer, he participated in the service & justice summer immersion program to Lima, Peru, and is completing his senior service at Parsons House Assisted Living & Memory Care.
“Michael is a student leader who is personally motivated to serve others and create a sense of team and community,” shared another nomination. “He leads with his heart and is an agent of compassion, inclusion, and faith. He is a quiet student who speaks volumes through his actions and integrity and models a consistent eagerness to do his best and to help his classmates achieve.”
Congratulations to Ranger of the Week, Michael Hasenfratz ’25!
