The ultimate seen and not heard team player, sophomore Antonio Gutierrez served as a leader of the Grounds Crew for the freshman retreat, working behind the scenes to ensure a fantastic retreat experience for the Class of 2029. His efforts, which included organizing and participating in various activities as well as writing notes of gratitude to participating faculty, was observed by students and staff, many who remarked at Antonio’s impressive commitment to the event.
“Throughout the planning and execution of the freshman retreat, Antonio’s smile never wavered,” shared a senior member of the counseling team. “He was a constant presence and fully committed to the experience for his Jesuit brothers. It was also a tremendous reflection of his outstanding character.”
The lead designer for Jesuit Robotics’ FIRST Tech Challenge team, 9200, Antonio balances a rigorous academic schedule with a dedication to service and his faith. This past summer, he served as one of Jesuit’s student leaders at the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas Swim Camp where he helped to provide an enriching and fun experience for our community partners.
“Antonio is patient and takes the time to explain complex tasks to his teammates on the robotics team as well as his classmates,” read a faculty nomination. “He is unfailingly polite and positive, as well as open and curious. He is model for his peers and an absolute joy to have in class.”
