Service and Justice
The mission of the Office of Service & Justice is to foster a relationship with Christ through encounters with the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized in our community and our world. Through these encounters we seek to form “Men for Others” whose love for God and their neighbor manifests in the practice of Christian charity and by a sustaining commitment to justice in the world.
Dear Jesuit Students, Parents, and Community Members,
Given the Covid-19 health crisis and in keeping with our objective to offer safe, meaningful, and engaging service-learning experiences for our students, we have paused all in-person school-sponsored community service initiatives. As we reassess the entire portfolio of Jesuit service and justice programs, we are frequently and carefully reviewing updates from our local leaders, city ordinances, state regulations, and guidance from the CDC. The process of restarting our regularly scheduled programs at our agencies, including schools, nursing homes, and nutritional/health programs will undoubtedly be incremental. In the meantime, we are working with our service partners to launch several virtual service programs which will be offered to specific clubs and grade levels. As these programs are rolled out, parents and students will receive more detailed information about how to sign up and make an impact in the lives of those we serve. We have created a virtual service page on our website and encourage students and parents to check the web page for regular updates.
TRAVEL PROGRAMS: It is also our hope to provide details regarding the summer social justice immersion trips on May 1st. Additional information will be posted on this page and email notifications regarding each program and its possible postponement will also be sent to parents and students.
Thanks! Rich and Michael
