2020-21 Bell Schedule
In the 2020-2021 school year Jesuit Dallas will be adopting a 7 day rotating cycle with 5 classes meeting per day. Each class will meet 5 out of 7 days in a cycle. The cycle works so that students will always see the next class first on the subsequent day of school. If, for example, on Monday students see classes A, B, C, D, and E, then on Tuesday they will see classes F, G, A, B, C.
Classes in the 7 day cycle have a consistent class length of 55 minutes allowing more time for deeper engagement and reflection. Passing periods will increase to 10 minutes to allow students adequate time for the cognitive switch between classes, time to talk to teachers after class, use the restroom, and take a deep breath before diving into their next course.
Every day will begin and end with an alpha and omega period respectively. These 45 minute periods are reserved for athletics, music, and extracurricular activities. Campus resources such as the test center, learning resource center and math lab will be available for students during the alpha and omega periods.
Each Wednesday will serve as a break in the normal rotation. Underclassmen students will meet with all of their classes for a shorter, 30 minute period to include time for prayer service. Senior classes will not meet on Wednesdays so they can attend weekly service following prayer service. Seniors will return to campus for lunch, their Social Justice and Public Policy courses, as well as senior guidance. One Wednesday a month and on holy days of obligation the school will follow a Liturgy order.
